The Changlou-Muli section of Suzhou Rail Transit (SRT) Line 7 officially started service at 10 a.m. on Dec. 1. With this newly opened line, the city’s rail transit network has 9 lines, with a total operating length of 350 kilometers.
SRT Line 7 is 40.5 kilometers long and has 33 stations. Running through Xiangcheng District, Suzhou Industrial Park and Wuzhong District, it is an important north-south metro line in the east of the city. With the opening of Line 7, the city has formed a rail transit network consisting of 4 east-west lines, 3 north-south lines, and 2 connecting lines, making it easier and more convenient for local residents to travel around and helping promote the urban development of the city. The section of SRT Line 7 which opened this time is from Changlou Station to Muli Station, with a total length of 35.2 km and 29 stations.
SRT Line 7 is the third rail transit line which was put into use in Suzhou this year. Line 6 started operation on June 29 and Line 8 on Sept. 10.
